I need basic instructions on scrap booking.?

I need help in getting started with scrap booking. Never did it before and don't know where to begin and how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.

I am a professional scrapbooker.

Go to the store and buy a paper kit, an album (I prefer 12×12) some stickers that you think you can use, an adhesive such as sticky squares or an acid free glue stick (don't use elmer's white glue), and at least one black marker that's made for scrapping. Make sure you are buying acid free. Although most items in Michaels, AC Moore, and Joann's are already acid free if you get them out of the scrapbooking section.

I wouldn't go after any big brands at this point, as you may love this, but you may not- and you don't want to go blow $100 on something you don't need. Just the basics will get you started.

My first supplies were a big lot off eBay for about $50.00 that got me going pretty well. I have now spent over $5,000.00 on items that I use, and love. So be sure you can financially take the expense of this hobby.

Get some photo's together and make sure they are extra's and not originals or your only copy, and start to practice, you don't need a specific theme on your first book, just get to know the hobby an practice techniques. My first book looks like a 3rd grader did it. My current books win awards and I get paid to scrap other people's books.

Just go slow. It can take you up to 2 hours to get one good page together. Line up your design before sticking it. Crop (cut) your photos if you'd like. Write a little something on each page.

Just have fun.

As you get better you can start adding brads, buttons, paint, ink stamping, ribbons, sewing etc.

Check out scrapper sites if you don't really know what you want your pages to look like. Try http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com
they have photos of other's work, and lots of great ideas.

Scrap booking idea for 8×11 background on a 12×12 page?

I need some ideas….I have a program that i can print backgrounds that i can add my on texts, pictures and such on my 8×11 paper/card stock/photo paper. However, I prefer 12×12 albums. Anybody have any ideas on how I can use my 8×11 page on a 12×12 page without it looking strange?
Thanks

One idea is to cut the 8.5 x 11 page down to an 8×8 and put it in the center of the 12×12 page creating a boarder effect. A square within square will look good on a page.
Cut the 8.5×11 page into long strips and use them across the top and bottom of your larger page.

I got a few questions about scrap booking?

I saw a few copys of layouts on line. I see some like border type things on the corner of the pictures. (they are like triangle borders) I dont know what they are called? Can I buy thoes or do I have to hand make them? I have never seen um at like Walmart?

Also I have some phases that I got and they are Vellum. I thought they were rub off when I bouth them, but they are not! My question is what kind of glue would I use to glue tem, they are kinda see threw!

Many scrapbook stores sell those corners, you can also buy a puncher to make them. also a few brands make vellum adhesives…they are on a roller you just roll it on and it will disappear when you stick it to the paper. My favorite way to stick vellum on a page is with embellishments like eyelets and brads…To use eyelets/brads you can either buy tools or try to put them on your way..Hope I was helpful. Also Scrapbook.com has a place where you can order any of those items. Good luck and happy scrap booking!

Is there any software for the mac for digital scrap booking?

hello,
i am looking in to making a digital scrapbook for my brother. I need to find a website or software that works on the mac and is either free or very cheep. If you know of any ideas please let me know. Thank you

Go to CropMom.com. It’s an online scrapbooking Website where you can create digital scrapbook pages for free using your photos and CropMom’s designer digital scrapbook graphics. You can use a Mac. There’s no expensive software to buy. No digital scrapbook kits to buy.

Once you’ve created your layout, you can download the low-resolution JPEG for free for sharing on the Web or for emailing. You can purchse the high-resolution JPEG of your layout for a small fee. If you want to purchase more than one layout, buy a package because it’s less expensive.

where can I buy scrap booking supplies in Italy?

hi, I am going to visit Italy next month and I am planing to see Venice, Florence and of course Rome. this will be my first visit to Italy. I just start to making scrapbooks with my photos, so I really want to purchase scrapbooking supplies from Italy, which I can not find in my country. I will be very pleased if somebody tell me where I can find scrapbook stores in Rome?

I just spent four months in Rome, and while I'm an avid scrapbooker here in the States, I found very, very few options over there. The cartolerie are great for oohing and aahing over bits of stationary and paper; of the ones I visited frequently, there's one just to the right of the Pantheon (though it's aimed and overpriced for tourists) and one in Trastevere. (I lived in Trastevere; I highly suggest wandering around those streets until you're so lost you stumble on something wonderful, like the cartoleria over there.) The cartolerie in Firenze are amazing! That's one of their specialties. There's a great one across the river, but I can't remember specific details as I only visited once. Check the market; some shops offer goods there. Have fun!

Does anyone know what paper cutter works best out there and where to for scrap booking and making invitations

on my question i kinda had a typo..i meant what kind of paper cutter is best and where can i find it!

If you have an Archive's store by you they have free wedding invitation classes. Also try you library for wedding invitations and card books. Don't forget to check out scrapbooking and card and paper magizines.

The best paper trimmer is by Fiskars. if you are doing a lot of cutting I would go with a table top model. You can find them at any craft or sewing store. JoAnns, Michael's, Hobby Lobby,

Can you use super glue to do scrap booking?

Will it hurt the pictures? I can get a bunch of super glue from my work and I like to scrapbook, but will it eventually ruin everyhting as far as ageing? I would like to pass them on eventaully.
NO! I am not just taking it from work! They scrap alot of stuff because the packaging is messed up or they have expired so they can't sell them to customers!!!!!!!!

Ahhhh NO!!! Liquid super glue is going to seep right through the photos
Use only acid free adhesive. I wouldn't use a glue stick at all. It drys up and everything falls off. This happen to my SIL and her album was only a year old.

Try a two way tape runner. Even Wal Mart sells them. Look in the scrapbook department. Hobby Lobby has them at 50% quite often.

If you are going to take the time and money to make a scrapbook and want to hand it down do it right.

Where can I find free on line quality scrap-booking classes?

I live in Lima, Peru, where this is totally new, so I have no one to teach me. And I’ve spend quite a lot in materials, so I don’t want to pay for a class until I’m sure its a great class!
Super M, a little tacky to try and sell me something, dont you think?

There aren’t any, I looked for one myself but somethings you just have to go out and pay for.

About how much does scrap booking cost?

for speech, we are doing a demonstartion speach. I love scrapbooking, and am really good at it, but I dont know how much it costs, because my grandparens buy the things for me. What i am taking about is how much is the scrap book, the scicorrs, glue, paper, and the decorations(stickers, extra paper to cut out, plastic sleeves ETC) please help if youk now

you can get a scrapbook 'kit' at Joann's Fabric and Craft stores for around $20 … it's not the greatest stuff - but there's enough to make a fun demonstration for class. YOu get the papers and the stickers and the ribbons and the embellishments, etc. I doubt if it includes glue and scissors.
